Dave and Monika are the newest members of the HBC leadership team. Dave received his M. Div. from Baptist Bible Seminary in Clarks Summit, PA. He became the lead pastor of HBC in July of 2014. He has a passion for leadership development. As a missionary in Costa Rica, he co-founded a ministry called Servant Leaders Training which has as its slogan “Recognizing, Refining & Releasing the leadership potential of the church.” Dave and Monika are excited to help HBC be a light into such an ethnically and culturally diverse community.

Dave enjoys just about any activity that happens outdoors (Hiking, canoeing, rock-climbing, skiing, rafting, etc.) When he’s not outdoors enjoying God’s creation, you might find him playing sports with friends or practicing jiu-jitsu.

Monika brings a lot to the table. She is also proficient in Spanish, and loves to build mentoring relationships. She has a heart to serve and puts her heart and soul into her ministries. Dave and Monika have three children. Aidan has a sensitive heart toward God and is very creative. Abby is our social connection. She just adores younger children and makes a great babysitter. Olivia, is our shy little artist… until you get to know her!

Dennis directs the choir, praise team and orchestra and manages the Missions Team. Along with the other pastors, Dennis plans the worship experience each week to include as many believers as possible in a meaningful time of praise to our great God and Savior.

A California native, he graduated from Pacific Coast Baptist Bible College, then continued his education working towards a Master's degree in church music at Biola University. He served six years at several churches in Southern California before coming to Michigan where he worked with music and youth for seven years in the Detroit area. The Lord led him and his family back to the Grand Rapids area in 1997.

Dennis and his wife Anne have five children; Christopher, Kara, Eric, Timothy, and Grace. When not in rehearsal, Dennis may be found downhill skiing, spending time with his family, flying R/C airplanes, or cruising the back roads on his motorcycle.

Tim has been serving as the student pastor at HBC since November 2020, shortly after he and his wife, Keila, were married. He and Keila are both graduates of the Word of Life Bible Institute, where they each attended for two years before transferring to Clarks Summit University, in Clarks Summit, PA. Keila was an on-campus student for the final two years of her Counseling degree and Tim completed his Bible and Theology degree online while doing a two-year youth ministry internship at Heritage. Tim has a passion for reaching teens for Jesus in this generation, specifically around here in Kentwood. He loves to relate with students through sports such as soccer, hobbies such as airsoft, or while eating tacos. He and Keila enjoy traveling and visiting family all around the United States as well as in Keila’s home country of Chile.
